‘Difficult People’ Canceled at Hulu After Three Seasons

“Difficult People” has been canceled at Hulu after three seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The series starred Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner playing fictionalized versions of themselves. Season 3 of the series saw Julie embarking on a season long quest for happiness. Meanwhile, Billy begins to sour on New York, just as he begins to fall for his first real boyfriend (John Cho). The series also starred Andrea Martin, James Urbaniak, Gabourey Sidibe, and Cole Escola. 28 episodes of the series were produced in total.
“Difficult People,” from Universal Cable Productions, was executive produced by Klausner, who created the series. Amy Poehler and Brooke Posch of Paper Kite Productions, Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment, and Tony Hernandez  of Jax Media were also executive producers. Scott King was showrunner.
“Difficult People” was critically-acclaimed throughout its run, with the three seasons averaging a 92 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Variety review of Season 1 read, in part, “TV has reveled in such self-absorbed characters, but these two are so perfectly loathsome and oblivious to the feelings of others, it’s almost hard not to root for them. Consider it a half-hour that proves bad company, TV-wise, can be good fun.”
Back in October, Hulu announced that its original series “Casual” would be returning for a fourth and final season, which will premiere in 2018.
